The clinical effects of acupuncture therapy at T¢¥ae-gye & Chok-Samni on Patients¢¥ glucose level with non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus





Abstract
Although many diabetic patients are currently using a traditional therapy, including acupuncture therapy, it is not established whether acupuncture therapy is effective in lowering blood glucose level or elevating it by the action of stress factor.
This study was performed with method measuring the changes of blood glucose level of pre and post acupuncture at T¢¥ae-gye & Chok-Samni on NIDDM patients with Acutrend glucosemeter. In advance to perform this study, preliminary study was performed to examine the accuracy of Acutrend glucosemeter.
The results are obtained as follows:
It is not showed a marked descent of glucose level and also a marked ascent of glucose level by acupuncture at T¢¥ae-gye & Chok-Samni on NIDDM patients.
Based on the above results, our conclusion are as follows:
We carefully suggest that acupuncture therapy may be more useful for relieving complaints by diabetic complications, for example neuropathy, enteropathy, impotence etc., than lowering the glucose level of NIDDM patients.
